Recovery Premium

Our use of the Recovery Premium

Children and young people across the country experienced unprecedented disruption to their education as a result of coronavirus (COVID-19).
The Recovery Premium and National Tutoring Programme funding was provided to support children to catch up lost teaching from the point of the pandemic up to the 2023/24 academic year .

As a Trust, we have committed to ensuring all children are supported to achieve as highly as they would have had the pandemic not have taken place. We have identified the priorities for mitigating the impact of the pandemic. To support us in addressing these priorities and making the best use of this funding, we then used the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) guide for schools which identifies evidence-based approaches to help us plan how best to utilise the funding available to us.

Our Pupil Premium Strategy from 2023/4 details how our recovery premium was spent last year. The Pupil Premium Strategy for 2024/5 reflects on the impact of the recovery premium and pupil premium spend last year. Both documents can be found below.

As with all government funding, school leaders must be able to account for how this money is being used to achieve the central goal of schools getting back on track and teaching a normal curriculum as quickly as possible. Given their role in ensuring schools spend funding appropriately and in holding schools to account for educational performance, our governors and trustees scrutinise our approaches to catch-up.
